Not quite top-of-the-line, but close!

by aashok aashok is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Electronics, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jan 19 '04
Pros: Eye controlled focus, wide ISO range w/over-ride, custom functions, multiple shooting modes.
Cons: Built-in flash sits very close to the body, no rechargeable Li-Ion batteries.
Why did I buy it? I have been a photography enthusiast for over two decades. For most of that time, I was shooting on 35mm film using SLR cameras. In May of 2003, I decided I wanted to go totally digital and purchased the ...

EOS Elan 7E - Raising the Threshold to Elan Class!

by viper1963 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jul 31 '02
Pros: Metal Top and Front Covers, Sturdy Body, Easy to Hold and Use!
Cons: Has functions many users might not understand but can be learned!
In 2000 Canon unleashed its third generation Elan camera and named it the Canon EOS Elan 7/7E. The original EOS Elan had an innovative whisper quiet drive system. Its replacement was the EOS Elan II/E that introduced the new eye control system....

The Canon Elan 7E is a top camera!

by garryuk , May 31 '03
Pros: Great pictures. Whisper quiet. Fast focusing. Loads of features!
Cons: Loads of features!
I have to say it - I love my Elan 7e.

A few words by way of background. I have always loved photography. After various "simple" cameras I got an OM10 for my 21st many moons ago. Took nice pics. Compliments flowed. As the years progressed I...

My 2nd Canon EOS Camera

by darktemplar , Dec 16 '03
Pros: Eye Control Focus, lots of features, good build, sharp photos
Cons: annoying AF assist, flimsy battery door lock, LCD not illuminated
This is my 2nd Canon EOS Camera. My first one is a Rebel XS. I'm satisfied with my Rebel but this one I love. I immediately sold my Rebel after a couple of rolls of film. Before I bought it, I was torn between it and the EOS 3. The price of the EOS 3 ...

My new favorite Camera

by supercliff , May 20 '02
Pros: Great Functions, lightweight, and incredibly accurate exposures
Cons: Can't think of one.
I've always been a diehard Canon fan so I may be too biased in my review. I've owned the Canon A-1, Rebel XS, Rebel 2000, and not the Elan 7E. My love of photography (like most people) comes and goes in it's intensity. For many years I owned a Rebel XS...

Not for RAID, awful service

by woijek9999 , Oct 23 '07
Pros: relatively cheap, good reviews on newegg.com
Cons: Company is awful, do not purchase samsung products
I purchased 2 of these to create a mirrored array. I was able to create an array, but found that the performance to be intermittent. Upon boot, my hardware often would not detect the drives in the array. When I was in windows the array would often drop ...

The last film camera you'll ever need

by balasuar , Jan 14 '04
Pros: Variety of shooting modes, lens system, weight, advanced features
Cons: Neckstrap, older model, default kit lens
Now that I have had my camera for some months now and have learned much more about its capabilities, I've decided to update my review. Originally, I decided to pick up photography as a hobby. My dad gave me his old Minolta SRT202 SLR and a bunch of ...

You'll love it

by Abel2 , Sep 05 '02
Pros: Can be everything from a point-and-shoot to a totally manual
Cons: Auto focus in low light ALMOST does not work. (Hunts for focus)
I am not a pro! Just a guy that likes photography. My wife likes to take pictures of the grandkids. She sets the camera for full auto (point-and-shoot mode) and gets great pictures every time. I like to get experimental and try things I should...

Elan 7e: A great camera!
by beaugatlin ,Mar 18 '07
Pros: Sturdy, quality construction. Easy to start with, but loaded with features.
Cons: Uses film. Other than that I can't think of many, this is a great camera.
I purchased this camera from a camera store used for about $350 in 2004. I had read some great reviews of it on-line and after holding it in the store and talking with the store owner
decided it was the camera for me. It had a great feel to it, it felt really sturdy. I liked the auto focus feature that tracked your eyes, although I found that I didn't use it much. This was my first SLR, and to be quite honest it had too many features. I will say that it was easy to start using. It took amazing pictures. I ended up selling this recently to fund a digital point and shoot. I do miss having an SLR, but am saving up for a digital SLR to take its place. If you can find one of these cheap, it may be worth it to try your hand at photography. The battery life is very good with this camera as well. I think my first new battery lasted for about 6 months. It is necessary to purchase a manual if one is not included to make the most of the features on this camera.

Best Camera of 2003 by National Geographic
by ranajee ,Nov 17 '04
Pros: Control the shutter with your eye is the coolest thing
Cons: Not good in night photo shoot
A very smart camera for a very smart price. Excellent for those who love photography. I wont recommend it for those who want to learn photography coz its expensive to develop & print your films. Taking pictures with this camera is an addiction :)
