When I originally bought my Xbox 360, I had already heard about this unit, both from online reviews and also from scanning the stock at local stores. I started to use my Xbox 360 with a pair of standard alkaline batteries. These lasted me roughly a month. After the first pair burned out, I checked the specs and advertisement on the unit. It claimed 25 hours of use per charge, and I could still play games while my controller recharged. I thought it would be an excellent accessory to buy. I bought this Xbox 360 Play and Charge kit new from Best Buy, thinking that I was buying a device that would save me money.
The specs on this device claim 25 hours of use per charge. I have owned this now for two weeks. At first, I would get maybe 6 hours of use out of it before it needed to be recharged. Now, two weeks later, I get two hours of use out of them before needing to be recharged.
I decided to bundle up this unit and put it in the garbage. I went out and spent $5 on a pair of Energizer lithiums. I would not be at all surprised if I got six months of use out of them.
About the only plus I can give to this unit is that it is easy to use. It is pretty much plug in and forget it. The plastic rechargeable battery unit installs into the controller the exact same way in which the AA battery compartment does. The grey wire is light and flexible, and does not interfere with play.
