Pros: roomy, many sleeping combinations, big bathroom, comfortable
Cons: no bathtub, ugly couch, shelf for TV not big enough.
The Bottom Line: There is no better buy for the money. You get everything you'd find in a 5th wheel for half the price and it is so much easier to handle!

| jenningspaige's Full Review: 2000 Fleetwood Wilderness |
My aunt actually just bought this trailer but I've stayed in it a few times now. I own an older Komfort trailer that I love, and I like to compare them. I know a lot about trailers in general and I really like this one. She bought a 2001 Wilderness, 25 feet long, no slide-outs, sleeps 6. They were on sale in Fresno and she ended up paying $13,200 plus tax and license and all that.
The wilderness trailers have an outdoors look to the exterior of them. I think they have a couple of leaves on the back. It's a nice clean white exterior, unlike some of the others that have gawdy stripes along the sides. This one is tasteful. It has a nice big handle outside both doors (there are two) to hold onto while you mount the two stairs. When you walk inside the right door, you are in the living room/kitchen. The kitchen is to the right with the booth seats and table across from it.
The kitchen has a nice black microwave, refrigerator, oven, and stove that match nicely. There are drawers beneath the appliances and the double wide sink for kitchen storage. There is also storage above the appliances for extra storage. The kitchen is roomy enough for two people to pass each other without difficulty. The booth seats are WONDERFUL. I can't stress enough how great it is to have booth seats. You can eat there, you can do paperwork, kids can do homework, you can play board games or card games, or it's a great place to sit with a pal and talk with a drink. Anything you want to do. The upholstery on the booth seats is the same as on the couch--a beige leafy pattern. It's nice--not the usual trailer blue color and not too noticeable. The walls have a small strip (about 6 inches tall) with a leaf pattern in them (brown leaves, not green). It might sound gawdy, but it's actually very tasteful. It gives the trailer a feeling of fall. The table folds down easily to make the booth into a full sized bed that will sleep two (but really only one person comfortably--it's a tad smaller than a full sized bed).
The carpet is a light tan color like a lot of house carpet, and it is off-white linoleum in the bathroom and part of the kitchen. The floors are very nice looking and feeling. Fleetwood has quality interiors.
The living room has a lot of floor space, which is nice. It makes the trailer more roomy and comfortable. You could even play Twister on the living room floor if you had a mind to! The couch is a regular full sized couch, except it has no arms. A lot of trailers have these kinds of couches, if you'll notice. I think the armless trailers are very ugly, and if it were mine I would replace it with a real couch from a home furniture store. The couch will seat 3-5 people against the wall and they will face the front door and the wall next to it. On the wall is a built in cabinet that comes up to my stomach for the TV to sit on. The shelf isn't deep enough to hold a big TV, so I was disappointed by that. The biggest you could put there would be a 19" or a 20". Speaking of TV's, there is also no place to put a small TV in the bedroom, though they could've easily installed a shelf or something with all the room in there. But anyway, 3-5 people can watch TV there and there is plenty of room. The couch also makes into a regular full sized bed to sleep two. Another thing I like is that even with the beds made out, none of the doorways are blocked and there is still plenty of room to move around.
The best part of this trailer is the HUGE bathroom. It's in the middle of the trailer, between the main bedroom and the living room. There are two doors to it, and when they are closed the bathroom is just as big as the bedroom! One entire wall is made of closets and drawers for storage, and the other wall is the usual bathroom stuff. A very very fat person would enjoy this bathroom. Even an elephant would fit on the toilet and in the shower. Since I have a full-sized bath tub in my trailer that I use all the time, I was sorry to see this trailer only had a shower. The water pressure is good though, and the water heater lasts a long time. And it's much wider than a regular trailer bathroom. It's a triangle shape to give more elbow room. There is also a sink in the far corner with a medicine cabinet and a nice counter top for all your toiletries. The toilet paper is on the wall like it should be--not tucked inside a cabinet door like most trailer bathrooms. There are also vents that go in there to provide hot/cold air and there is a vent for fresh air. A very well-designed bathroom. I guess the bad thing about this bathroom is that you have to lock both doors if you don't want anyone to walk in on you. But that's not too hard. Also, the large bathroom provides a silencer between the bedroom and the living room. That way, one or two people can sleep while the rest of the family goofs off in the living room and blares the TV and stereo. Clever!
The bedroom has a large queen sized bed that is against one wall (that makes it a little harder to make in the morning, but easier than ones with all four corners enclosed). Besides the bed there is some storage, a few drawers, and the second door. Nothing to write home about, but the bed is nice and big and the bedroom stays wonderfully quiet. The mattress is also really comfortable. You won't have any trouble sleeping in this trailer if you get the bedroom.
The trailer is lightweight, and it's very easy to set up, take down, and tow. We never tow it very far, but I don't think it would be a problem. I just tow it with my Toyota Tundra pickup and it does fine. It's lighter than my smaller, older trailer.
I think you get a ton of stuff in this trailer. It works for all kinds of families because of the various sleeping arrangements. It's not too big for one person and it's not too small for four or five either. I think it's the best choice for the money.
