| mcj4's Full Review: Nikon Zoom 800 35mm Film Camera |
I do not know much about cameras in general, aside from the obvious tips a normal user would know. So a automatic camera is my choice for obvious reasons. So when new camera time comes along I chose a Nikon simply because my father (a professional photographer) simply recommended me this particular model.
Everything from the Nikon Zoom 800 is smartly designed. It has a built-in 38 - 130mm 3.4x zoom power which can highlights possibilities of perspective. The mode dial enables versatile operation, and furthermore it is illuminated thereby making changes for various settings fast and easy, even in the dark.
The creative autofocus and flash/exposure programming comes closer than ever to ensuring that what you picture is what you get in every shot. This is what I personally like the best. I really like the "what I see is what I get" ability from this camera.
The powerful flash can also adjusts automatically to provide the ideal angle for any flash or zoom setting in the range from 38mm to 130mm. Furthermore, the auto flash automatically operates when it is in low light. A very nice feature for those of us who often forget to turn the flash on.
The "Flash Cancel" feature ensures the naturalism by using any available light. Anytime Flash illuminates the shadowy foreground of a backlit subject. The Zoom 800 also has the always useful red eye reduction (with or without Slow Sync) which keeps anyone in the picture from looking completely possessed.
The easy to use dials helps to simplify major operations, a Drive Dial controls the power, and self timer operation. When a mode is switched using the dial, the mode marks on the dials light up for about five seconds for easy operation in darker areas.
A photographer can use a self-timer to get into the picture or an optional remote control unit to take a shot from 3.5 to 5m away from the camera. With auto film pre-wind loading, even if the camera back is opened by mistake, previous exposures on the film roll can still be developed.
All in all, I am very happy with my "point and shoot" camera. It really makes me a beter photographer as long as I use a high quality film. The quality of my pictures is immediatley apparent when compared to my older Nikon camera. This camera is very easy to use and I would recommend it to other epinion members.
