| photobug's Full Review: Olympus IS-20 DLX QD 35mm Film Camera |
This is a review of the entire Olympus IS 10, 20, 30 series. I first bought the original IS 10 DLX several years ago and recently replaced it with an IS 300 because I dropped the original on its lens when the carrying strap came loose. The design of this strap has been improved but it still should be checked regularly. After years of carrying fifty pounds of camera gear, I loved the Olympus because it could do virtually everything I wanted it to do, and it only weighed a fraction of most SLR cameras weigh. No extra lenses to carry and change, the zoom does it all! After once around the world and dropping the first Olympus I still loved the camera but realized that it wasn't as sturdy as a metal camera. I decided to get another and be more careful, and not pay the weight penalty. Since I never used the date/time back and had a good case left from the first camera I bought an IS-300 for less than the cost of repairing the IS-10. I considered the IS-30 DLX, but the so-called panoramic mode is a joke. It is nothing more than a normal 35mm picture with the top and bottom cut off. Save your money. I have been a photographer for over 40 years and love these cameras, my wife is a technophopic who hates any thing complicated and but she has taken marvelous pictures with both cameras.
