| Izzi7's Full Review: Minolta Maxxum Qtsi Body Only 35mm Film Camera |
I became interested in photography when I got a small point and shoot camera in the 8th grade. Since then, photography has become a passion of mine, still growing. As a poor college student, I finally saved up enough money last year to buy myself my first SLR (single Lens Reflex) camera, the Minolta QTsi.
Though I have not had much experience with other brands of SLR's, I have been very pleased with Minolta's performance. The QTsi is a great first camera because if it's simplistic, but functional style.
The QTsi is great for all kinds of photography. There are basic settings on it for portrait, landscape, close up, sports, and low-light shots. It also has a full program mode as well. You can use manual or auto focus, control the flash settings (including red-eye reduction), attach the camera to a tripod and use the timer to include yourself in a shot. A great thing too is that it comes with basic 35-80 zoom lens, so you don't have to purchase a separate lens. You can however buy other Minolta lenses to fit it for more variety.
I have used my camera for a wide variety of pictures including weddings (as the photographer, not a guest), sports (gymnastics), nature photography and normal occasions like vacations and such. You can use it basically anywhere, and it is very light weight. Overall performance is great.
After learning more about photography and my camera, I was disapointed to discover that you cannot manualy set shutter speed or f/stop. You also cannot push or pull the film speed. If those technicalites are something you don't need then, this camera is for you. It is especially good for, older children (12+) or older adults looking for a easy-to-use, reliable camera. If you are interested in more technical photography, this camera is place to start because many camera shops will trade or give credit when you wish to move up in technical features.
In summary, I highly recommend this camera to any budding photographer. The Minolta QTsi's performance, user-friendly format, basic options and reliablitiy make it a great first time SLR or family camera.
