Thanks Dave
I use the F3HP for almost any occasion when I want to shoot natural light for exposures under 8 seconds....particulary for candid shots. I shoot a lot of low light and night shots, so my FM3A is the one I choose for those situations...... but if the F3HP had a mechanical bulb mode I would use it in a heart beat. Between the F3HP and the Fm3a there is a world class camera waiting to emerge..... if only Nikon would blend the basic F3HP body with the electrical innards and the hotshoe of the FM3A then they would have a truly AMAZING camera. ... too bad that it is unlikely Nikon will make any real future investment in an MF body. I guess that in 10 years or so we better all start looking at AF bodies for out MF lenses.

A very comprehensive review on this now off-the-mainstream SLR body. I think you covered all the bases with post. You hit the nail right on the head with your comment on Nikon's concession to current pre AF lens owners. It's sad to think that in a generation, all those great lenses will only be relics of Nikon's golden age. Still some great images continue to be shot through them.
Would like to read about your application with this camera.
I spent most of last week with someone shooting with a couple Nikon F1s during some outdoor and landscape treks. She wields them with authority and shoots some fine slides. I bet your F3 gives you no less confidence.
Good luck. I hope you continue to post more camera gear reviews.
