The first comment was from a die hard Nikon fan. Me? I'm a Canon guy because I think their cameras are very simple to sue.

Me? I'd recommend the Canon EOS Rebel 2000.

I might suggest that, all things considered, you might want to consider trading your N70 for an FM2 or maybe an FE2...bit lighter and more modern than your Ricoh, but still manual. If you really like the idea of getting into a better camera...consider the F4S, for about $900 you can get a mint condition used specimen. You can email me if you need more info, or just want to discuss the idea.
