My dream camera!
by mgrumpyl13 ,Aug 15 '07
Pros: Light, buttons all in the right place, rubber grip, and all the features. Cons: Shutter is a little loud and scares the bugs away.
I have been wanting a Rebel for EVER! Love it. For someone not a pro this camera lets you have control when you think you can handle it, but babies when you don't feel secure yet. You can take picture with this camera with lots of light or just candle light, but if you use a small amount of light I do suggest you get a tripod because any movement and the picture will be blurry. I love the way I can just hook it up to my computer and download my pictures. The flash card was a little expensive but if you get a good one to start with that is all you need to take up to 2000 picture. I love it!

Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens
by travisandmorga ,Mar 22 '07
Pros: close to perfect as you can get and all I'll ever need.
Cons: pricey
This is my third - and possibly final - digital camera. It does everything superbly and in a size I can just throw in my pocket so it's always there.
With the Sony less than a year old, I couldn't put up with it anymore - it was time to go back to Canon so I wouldn't miss any future shots. I got the SD600 at Best Buy 1 day before leaving on a week-long trip to Boston. My 10-yr old daughter was studying the Revolutionary War in school so I was told to take a lot of photos and "Dad, make sure they aren't blurry like all those others." [She's got the old S100, so she's not worried].
Since I'd already had the old S100, the controls were familiar. Best Buy had a 1GB PNY SD chip on sale for $39, so I had room for over 500 photos, plus I picked up an extra battery.

Excellent Camera and a good buy.
by ebrb1234 ,Jan 03 '08
Pros: Comfortable. Durable. Has all the features needed by a non-professional.
Cons: I dislike the lens that comes with the camera. Expect to replace it.
Replaced my XT with the XTi. I like the new features, especially the larger screen and the "on" light. Great camera for anyone short of a dedicated pro. It just keeps on working. Excellent battery life. Not too heavy but not lite either. Not really a camera for the beginner. I found great deals on the "net" and in most stores. Price came down much quicker than when I bought my XT.

Exellent Digital Camera for Professionals
by alelnro1 ,Jan 06 '08
Pros: Good price for how it is, good performance. Excellent features. Recommendable. Cons: No problem since i bought it 1 year before
I had a camera over an year. It was sony, but it broke. This is an excellent cam for an exotic photographer. Now that i bought this one, i have no problems.
It has a great resolution, and for my job is big. So i recommend it, to everyone that is a photographer, or is searching for a good camera for it's vacations, you find it. This is your camera. It has a lot of features, and is extremely easy to configure. Maybe, you will think that this camera is a bit expensive. Maybe it is, but when you buy it, you must see the changes of using a common camera, or using Canon EOS 400D. You will notice a great difference. As you can see, that in common cameras, pixels are big, but definition when printing, is horrible. That will not happen more using Canon EOS 400D!
Canon EOS 400D looks good, and its performance is excellent. You will never more here say your friends: "Oh! Such an ugly camera!". Your friend will die when they see the excellent performance of the Canon EOS 400D!!
It is the best camera i ever used.

Great for the Beginner or the Pro
by silveradoman04 ,May 28 '08
Pros: Preset shooting options are user 'easy'. Excellent battery life. Compatible with film camera lenses/extras. Cons: Camera is focal length sensitive, needs a lot of light.
The XTi is user friendly and functional right out of the box. Some of the extended features are a little difficult to understand, but the enclosed instructions do a good job explaining how to maximize the camera functions. The XTi is stylish and fits easily into the hands. If you are moving from the Canon film cameras (I had a Rebel G) the XTi is familiar, and compatible. The pictures are extremely clear and colorful on the XTi. The large view screen makes picture preview and menu set up easy. There are many extras available for this camera which make it even more versatile. This is a great camera if you are just starting out, or for a good all around shooter for the pro...

Awesome Camera
by azscubagirl ,Nov 10 '07
Pros: Small easy to use, light weight loads of options Cons: Scratches easily.
I love this camera. I bought it for my trip to Italy and Greece. And only having 2 month to learn the camera I thought it did a great job. The only thing I don't like about this camera is that by the end of the first week it had scratches on the view screen. I believe they are from my glasses its the only thing I can think of. I like this camera because of all the features and the artistic photos I can create with it. Plus the black and white settings are great. As with all newer recently made camera's I find that they don't hold up as well and the plastic is a little cheap and gets scratches unlike the older 35mm film counterparts. But over all the quality of the photos can't be beat. Its a little pricy but you can find good deals out there. For examples of photos taken with this camera go to www.pbase.com/dragonflylady

AWESOME!
by shutterweb ,Mar 20 '07
Pros: GREAT photos, easy to use features Cons: May be a little much for beginners
I went from a Minolta Diamage 7i, bought a little 10MP Casio for being out and about, and after working a small wedding with a friend that was using the Rebel XT and saw how wonderful his photos were, I went and bought the XTi. Not being too familiar with SLR's I am having a blast trying to figure out the bells and whistles. Being that I don't have another SLR to compare this camera too, I may be blinded, but I can't find anything wrong with it thus far.

Fantastic starter SLR
by photonut01-123 ,Jun 12 '08
Pros: Ease of use. Great quality of picture for landscapes and portraits. Cons: Macro needs separate lens, otherwise you do not get the the clarity of subject matter.
I absolutely love this camera, I recently sold My Olympus E500 and could not be happier with ease of use.

Rebel XTi
by sdeskie ,May 17 '07
Pros: How easy it is to swap out different lens (I bought the two lens package). Cons: No video capability, not being able to frame shot with the LCD display.
I really like how easy it is to use this camera. I bought it to replace my Kodak digital D7590 because I wasn't getting the type of pictures I wanted and as a gift to myself.

Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera
by garry22 ,Apr 23 '08
Pros: The great picture quality; The low shutter lag time Cons: Slow f3.5 maximum aperture on EF-S 18-55mm zoom
Great camera, great lens shutter timing, without the slow slag effect. Really good quality for money. Strongly recommend to any intermediate photographer.

80% good for professional user
by hydia ,Apr 25 '07
Pros: Professional, fast, handy Cons: big..
I remember I also have a friend who owns a EOS 400D . In comparison with the my IXUS 1000 (my own system), maybe it's not suitable for professional use .
But, after testing it together with a IXUS, I found that the pictures it made is a little lighter. I sum up the reason for the different construction of the lens.
More, I think it's a great camera. Just handling the EOS 400D is a thrill, knowing the images will be razor sharp and wonderfully resolved is very satisfying. Then of course comes the joy of checking the contact sheets. Altogether I certainly wouldn't be without mine..
I borrowed the EOS 400D so I know the feeling of using that. I used it to take some photos about gems and pearls on http://www.hydiapearl.com , if you friends would like to see the impression of EOS 400D , welcome~
