About sam-pro

I served in the USAF during the Vietnam War. When I was stationed at a somewhat remote base in Alaska, I developed an interest for audio equipment and broadcasting. Since I always loved radio as a teenager and followed the local Pop charts very closely. I performed Top 40 and Progressive Rock shows on AFRN radio and have since moved on to acquiring a substantial interest in videography ever since I missed my eldest son scoring his first and only goal in soccer.
My first true audiophile stereo system consisted of a Dual 1218 turntable with Shure V15 Type II Improved phono cartridge, an AR amplifier, a Lafayette AM-FM stereo multiplex tuner, Koss Pro 4AA headphones and Bose 901 [SERIES I] speakers that I purchased in 1972. But right before this I owned some basic Pioneer speakers along with a Garrard TT and Pioneer SX-990 receiver.
My very first stereo was a 5 watt per channel Caricon amplifier with separate magnetic phono preamp along with a converted Philco TT featuring a Shure M3D cartridge and two huge homemade cabinets that sported a duo-cone 8" Jensen speaker! I've owned many different systems since...some of which have been kept in the family by my many brothers and sisters! My dealings with hi-fi equipment have been strictly on a consumer and enthusiast level. As a matter of fact, my regular duties are quite different from my hobbies.
I love reviewing hi-fi equipment and videotaping sports/special events for the kids and parents of my hometown!
